Carine Tohme
Carine is the managing partner of Tohme Law Firm, a firm based in Beirut and founded in 1979 offering a broad range of high-quality legal services tailored to both businesses and individuals. The firm serves leading companies across various sectors in Lebanon and abroad, as well as high-net-worth individuals, and is supported by a global network of over 7500 elite lawyers in more than 150 cities.
She handles corporate matters and commercial transactions at both national and international levels, bringing significant expertise in estate planning and advising local and international investors on asset structuring. She handles private client services, advising clients directly and through the firm’s network particularly assisting the Lebanese diaspora, often with dual nationalities in matters related to structuring, succession planning, and tax considerations for assets located in Lebanon and abroad. Carine also practices commercial litigation including bankruptcy, asset protection, asset recovery, and tax-related litigation. Carine is a certified mediator and handles mediation cases in different fields.
Carine has obtained her law degree and a master's degree in private law from Saint Joseph University in 2003. She also has an MBA from Paris I Pantheon - Sorbonne, Paris- Dauphine and Saint Joseph Universities, a certificate in International Private Law from the Hague Academy of International Law, as well as a Higher Master’s degree in International Cooperation, Humanitarian and Development Policy from Paris I Pantheon – Sorbonne.
On a more personal note, Carine is actively involved in numerous initiatives and associations dedicated to fighting corruption, asset recovery, community support, preserving Lebanese heritage, supporting micro-businesses, and promoting the rule of law. She holds leadership roles as President of the Lebanese Association for Taxpayers’ Rights (ALDIC) and President of the board of Legal Action Worldwide in Lebanon, and she serves as a board member at the House of Christmas. Her professional memberships include the Beirut Bar Association (since 2003), the International Bar Association, Together LiBeirut, and AmCham.
