Haitham Mokhtar

Haitham Mokhtar is a mechanical engineering consultant and an expert witness and mediator in the field of Oil and Gas projects and disputes.  He has over 28 years of professional experience, including 22 years in O&G project and construction management in the UAE and other countries.  He is accredited by the Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution (CEDR) as a mediator and registered with local and federal courts of the UAE, the Ministry of Justice (MOJ), and some arbitration centers as an expert witness.

He has completed over 465 assignments as an expert witness and ADR practitioner, covering various aspects of O&G, energy, construction, and technical claims.  He has also conducted valuations for different types of assets and feasibility studies for O&G projects. He has successfully facilitated the settlement of 22 disputes through mediation and arbitration. 

He is a chartered engineer (CEng/CMarEng) and a Prince2practitioner, holding a B.Sc. in Mechanical Power Engineering and a Postgraduate Diploma in Offshore Engineering with Distinction.  He is a fellow of the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology(FIMarEST) and a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators(MCIArb).  He is also a professional member of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) UAE and a member of its ADR and Arbitration steering committee, as well as the honorary secretary of the CIArb UAE Branch. 

He is fluent in Arabic, English, and some Italian and has a UAE Golden Visa under the Humanitarian Pioneers Category.  He is an active volunteer and a recognized contributor to the professional community, receiving awards and appreciation certificates for his work.  He enjoys traveling, bowling, photography, fishing, swimming, motorbiking, and cycling.
