Professional Mediation Centre at the Saint Joseph University

The First of its kind in the Middle East region, the Professional Mediation Centre at the Saint Joseph University (CPM-USJ) was founded in Lebanon, in October 2006 by Johanna Hawari Bourjeily with the mission to disseminate the spirit of humanism, goodwill, and solidarity amongst people and the goal of promoting peace and non-violence.

Implementing activities on the local, regional and international levels, the CPM-USJ has a ternary dimension.

First, the CPM-USJ is an academic center offering a variety of professional mediation diplomas, namely the Professional Mediation Certification Diploma, the Intercultural and International Diploma (DUM2I) and the Couple and Family Mediation Diploma.

Second, the CPM-USJ is a mediation center, offering mediation services to prevent, address, and/or resolve amicably all types of conflicts in Lebanon and the MENA region. CPM-USJ also collaborates with other key players in this field on the regional and international levels.

Third, the CPM-USJ isa project incubator. Throughout the years, the CPM-USJ has shown a stead fast growth and evolution. The center has been a key actor in all societal sectors with activities targeting youth and young adults, security forces, women, civil society entities as well as public and private institutions.

Having established strong local and international partnerships with more than 50 national and international partners and having worked on high-profiles initiatives and projects in various fields, the CPM-USJ has developed and implemented projects to promote mediation and integrate it across different levels and communities.

 

Countries of operations:

The CPM services and activities developed beyond Lebanon. It extended its outreach to 11 different countries in the region: Jordan, Egypt, Morocco, Sudan, Algeria, Tunisia, UAE, Oman, Iraq, Somalia and KSA.
