Rushda Niyas

Rushda Niyas is a qualified lawyer from Sri Lanka with over 10 years of experience specializing in commercial and corporate law. She is currently the Managing Director of JAAR Law, a dynamic law firm that provides tailored legal solutions to both local and international businesses, ranging from small enterprises to large corporations.

Rushda’s passion for commercial mediation developed as she recognized the limitations of traditional litigation, especially for corporate clients. She saw that many businesses were frustrated by the lengthy court processes that often failed to bring effective resolutions to their disputes. Inspired by the success of commercial mediation in other jurisdictions, she became a strong advocate for this alternative dispute resolution (ADR) method, which allows parties to settle disputes outside of the courtroom, saving both time and resources. Rushda believes mediation fosters a win-win environment, making it a highly effective solution for resolving conflicts.

Rushda holds an LLB from Staffordshire University, UK, and an MBE from the University of Sri Jayawardenepura, Sri Lanka. She has also completed the mediator accreditation workshop and skills assessment program conducted by the Singapore International Mediation Centre (SIMC), qualifying her to register as a Level 1 accredited mediator.

Her personal philosophy is deeply rooted in her belief in helping people solve problems. Rushda is committed to fostering resolutions that not only end disputes but also build lasting, amicable relationships. This ethos guides her mediation practice, where she strives to create solutions that serve the best interests of all parties involved.
